Operations update Sept 29, 2024
Ice creams during the summer have been a great success and in the 16-week period from mid-May to end August we sold over 1,100 of them.
Our cakes continue to offer great value for money and as we go into autumn, we are introducing new flavours. The recent addition of a Victoria sponge was a roaring success selling out on the first day of sale.
A new large chiller was purchased to keep fresh produce in better condition for longer periods and has enabled us to stock more such items. We continue to use local producers and are grateful for their support.
We were keen to get the Youth Volunteer scheme off the ground but were delayed as we had to ensure we met all the legal requirements. All those that were able to participate were incredibly impressive, picking everything up quickly and efficiently and we enjoyed their company enormously. If you or one of your children is interested, check out the guidelines on the documents here.
We didn’t feel able to extend the opening hours during the summer as planned due to the pressure on volunteers. We always need to build up a bank of volunteers, particularly those who could be available at short notice. If you would like to be considered for this, please get in touch with Annie on 0779 931153.
We held a second volunteer meeting on September 25 to thank volunteers for all their efforts, have some fun, sample shop products and discuss how we can improve the business in any way.
