The committee of the Community Benefit Society which runs the village store has a new chair.
Annie Hewitt took over the role from David Podd at a committee meeting held on September 10.
David has been at the heart of the revival of Perranwell Stores and is remaining on the committee as our Retail Strategist and Advisor, also retaining responsibility for some orders from local suppliers.
Annie commented: “I want to put on record our enormous gratitude to David for the incredible work he has put in over the last few years to get us where we are today – back in the old shop premises and trading profitably. His energy, drive and retail expertise have been essential to our success and I am delighted he is staying on in a committee role.”
It was also announced that David Ward has stepped down as Company Secretary, with the committee expressing its thanks for all his hard work. He continues as a Team Leader. His Company Secretary role has been taken up by Peter Harding alongside his continued role handling our finances.
Liz Lee has been made Vice Chair while Paula Wheeler has joined the committee.
The committee in full consists of:
· Chair and Operations – Annie Hewitt
· Vice Chair – Liz Lee
· Finance and Company Secretary – Peter Harding
· Operations Assistant and Rota – Paula Wheeler
· Retail Strategist – David Podd
· Maintenance – Brett Nelson
Supporting the committee are Andy Chatfield (comms and marketing) and John Heath, who is helping Peter with the EPOS (Electronic Point of Sale) system.
The committee also heard that Graeme McCallum had stepped down from the post of Store Standards Manager. Annie thanked him for his work. It was decided that we would not seek a replacement in the short term but use the team leader/volunteer group to maintain standards with the help of an extended Store Manual which will be made available in print in store and also online.
